Series: Long Journey
After 20 years, I finally managed to visit my family in Canada again. It had been far too long, yet so many positive memories of my time in Toronto and the surrounding area are still very present. The city, the small village of Killaloe where my family once lived, and above all the extraordinary hospitality of the people gave me a wonderful experience back then.
Over the years, I had seen some family members in Europe, but others I was only now reunited with – and even new ones had joined the family. Still, the bond was immediately there again, as if no time had passed. On the same wavelength, happy to finally share time together again.
I was especially impressed by how the family business had grown during my absence, yet the people behind it are still the same positive, slightly crazy characters. That entrepreneurial spirit connects us.
I was welcomed in style with Aperol – which has now made its way from Europe to Canada. Alongside the two kids, there is now a small dog who seemed to fall in love with me instantly. A new house in Tottenham, surrounded by fir trees, chickens, and a stunning winter landscape, has also become part of their life. The sunrises in particular captivated me.
Toronto was only a brief stop this time, because from there we all traveled together to Costa Rica – a truly special experience. This journey once again reminded me of how important family time is. And that’s exactly what we want to build on in the future!
