From the series: Long Journey
Sports have always been a central part of my life. To feel balanced and at ease, I need to stay active. Over the years, I’ve explored many different sports, often seeking thrill and speed—whether on water or snow. However, these adventurous pursuits are mostly reserved for my vacations, meaning I never get the chance to continuously improve in them.
In my daily life, though, I’ve always been fascinated by ball sports. My sporting interests have come in phases: I started with football, then moved on to table tennis, followed by a few years of tennis, then badminton, and eventually squash. And then came Padel!
The first time I played Padel was in Valencia, and when I later tried it in Hamburg, it was still relatively unknown—but I was already completely hooked! Now, Padel has become a full-blown trend, with new courts popping up everywhere and finding the right playing partners has never been easier.
My favorite Padel memory is from a stunning court right by the beach in Barcelona—Club Natación. Originally a historic swimming club, it now houses several Padel courts, offering an unbeatable view of the sea, sailboats passing by, and palm trees reaching toward the sky. Through the metal fences of the court, you can even spot surfboards resting on the sand.
I vividly remember a February day there: the air was crisp, but the sun was strong—a perfect contrast of cold and warmth all in one day.
This diptych I created represents both sides of the Padel court. On the left side, my team is depicted, including the man who has become my ultimate Padel sparring partner. Not only did he support me on the court in Barcelona, but he also became an exceptional guide, sharing his expertise and insight.
I look forward to playing many more matches together!
